Ironically, my ancestor Debby Shinault was a medium, and by that I mean fortune teller. That's what she put on the census. The newspaper called her the Witch of Chestnut Ridge. She was of French descent. Her ancestor Estienne Chenault was a French Huguenot. You can read about her and her family in my other blog Questions and Ancestors.
