Practice makes perfect
When it comes to art, there are only three rules: practice, practice, practice.
Find something to draw and draw it. Compare your work to the visual reference, and keep editing it until you like what you see. Simple right?
You can find a picture of something and draw that or look at something and draw that. I chose to practice drawing familiar and popular characters so that people could compare my work to the original artists. The finished product in many cases has been good. Sometimes not so good, but if it does not work at all, just start over. I have gotten a lot of compliments from friends and coworkers because of the popular characters and they make a good portfolio too.
The main thing in drawing is to keep drawing. Practice makes perfect, and there are lots of books out there you can study and even articles online too. Keep working on your portfolio and adding to it every chance you get. Keep creating new masterpieces to include and when you finish one, start another. Art comes from the heart and soul of the artist. It is a part of you and needs to be shared with the rest of the world.
Art makes the world more beautiful and bearable. So share it and enjoy the fruits of your labor. We cannot take it with us,but we can leave a great portfolio behind when we go.
