Her Last Christmas

Photo by Milad Fakurian on Unsplash

 A dark shadow behind her

she sees it and then it disappears

into the darkness and it's gone

she walks a little faster now

her footsteps seem to echo

and she wishes she was closer to home.

the sound of someone breathing

she dare not stop to look around

it's early Christmas morning

as she runs toward the center of town

she hopes to find a cab now

if only she can make it to the square

she feels it's hot breath now

as something lifts her up into the air.

she screams one last time

as she disappears into the darkness

of the night

then all that can be heard is crickets

as her blood drops to the street beneath the light

the final victim of the night

before the sun lights up the morning sky

the girl who never made it home for Christmas

and was never seen again

in morning light

the undead creature is fed now

tho the thirst is never satisfied

eternity can sometimes be a curse

if you're spending it

as a creature of the night.

May showers bring May flowers.

May has come and as usual brought a lot of April Showers with it. Starting off wet this year again and the change in temps is causing some storms and rain. Still it's cooler than June and I like it when it's comfortable. I'll take a little rain over the heat stroke days of summer any time. The Ides of May are here... Be Happy.
